1. Tiny blue font on a gray background. Perfect for eyestrain.

2. Penny Arcade IS a real comic. What the heck else would you call it?

5. Well, find some friends who like the games you like if it bothers you so much.

7. If you go around calling people half breeds you're liable to wind up with a fat lip.

9. Number 9, meet number 5. But wait until I get the popcorn.

12. As far as I can determine, every single pairing in Bleach is despised by someone. So it all evens out really. Just ignore the ones who despise the pairing you like. Remember that the pairing that they like is also despised...by someone.

13. I was with you until the second paragraph. Because really you have no more cause to think that the happy characters are hiding pain than the goth character fans have in thinking that happy characters are brainless twits. Now maybe the happy ones ARE hiding deep pain but presumably the writer would let the audience in on that.

14. Would it have been so disgusting if you had stumbled onto a het site?

25. I can't even READ this. Why do people use ittsy bitsy fonts?

Sorry, I've got a huge monitor and it's on a low resolution. It didn't occur to me how small the font was. ♥

2. That wooshing sound you just heard was the point zipping over your head.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
ok, fair enough. I missed the point. And as I really haven't read Penny Arcade in ages, I will concede that maybe the point is blindingly obvious to someone who has been keeping up with it.

So take pity on me and tell me what the point was.

They wish that particular (fake) strip shown in the scret was an official Penny Arcade strip and not just a parody creation.

DOH!!!

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the people who responded are absolutely right. I DID miss the point. I missed it so spectacularly that I wasn't even in the same galaxy.

See, I didn't realize that that was a parody strip. (bonks herself on the head).

My profuse (and shamefaced) apologies to the poster of the secret for being such a dunderhead and kudos to whoever did the parody because they captured the style of Penny Arcade perfectly.

13. My point was that the writer doesn't always let you in that right away. :P Take Misha from Pitaten for example; that is probably the most pink, bubbly, ditzy character you can ever imagine in a series. However, it's revealed later that she's had a somewhat dark past. There are scenes where she even drops her ditzy-ness completely, acting like a regular person, revealing that it's all just an act. However, it feels like I was the only one ever that realized from the beginning that she was probably trying to hide something, since usually when a character is that ditzy, there's more to them then just that (at least this is how I view these kind of character). If there's not, then oh well, but people tend to view characters in a one-dimensional fashion instead of thinking they could ever be more then just a daydreaming face -- and even worse, tend to hate these type of characters straight away because of that assumption, and because "OMG, ETERNALLY DITZY POINTLESS CHARACTER THAT WILL NEVER EVER COME TO FRUIT = . ME WANT STRONG SILENT EMO CHARACTER WITH HARDLY ANY LINES, ME SMASH, RAWR."

Wow, I type a lot. XD Anyway, that was my point.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I do totally agree with your point that it's stupid to dismiss happy characters simply because they're happy. And it is true that those very same happy characters could be laughing on the outside and crying on the inside to quote from an old song.

It was just that your second paragraph seemed to imply that ALL happy appearing characters were hiding painful pasts and that's not necessarily so. But it seems we are in total agreement about your main point.

Re 2 - Either you're being really clever or missing the point entirely.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-07-01 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh how I wish I could claim that I was being witty and clever. Unfortunately it turns out I was being dense and an idiot. Someone had to actually tell me that this had been a parody strip. I had thought that it was an actual Penny Arcade strip (although I do remember thinking that the last panel was kind of odd.)

Nothing like making a complete and total ass of oneself. Again I apologize to the secret maker.

Het/yaoi doesn't really make a difference, it was just the smutfic. I just felt really bad about getting exposed to smut at a young age, it made me feel guilty.

And I love yaoi now. Sorry if I made you think I didn't XD

Gods, I suck at writing secrets. Sorry!

OH! I think I know what you're saying.

No, I probably wouldn't have been as disgusted if it was a innocent het site without sex. The yaoi site was pretty innocent too, it had kissing and hugging, pictures. All of them were pretty tame, but it was just kind of awkward at that age, considering lots of my friends (we're immature 2nd-3rd graders) at that time used 'gay' as a derogatory insult D: "That's gay, you're gay, stop being gay" etc etc.

I know, I was a stupid close minded brat when I was younger, sorry.
