TBH, I used to be like that, when I was 13 - 15. I'm over it, now, but I still don't think pregnancy plots are all that great. I think that's more because of shitty writing/writers running out of ideas of what to do for female characters than "ick, children in my show, bad!"

This is a good point. Doesn't seem like there are a lot of other options when that happens other than writing the character out of the show for awhile while the actor is pregnant.

Of course, OP sounds like one of those detestable hardcore "childfree" people who uses misogynist language to refer to mothers

It's what I think of whenever I hear the word, which I suppose is why I didn't find it odd that 'childfree' was in quotes. There be crazies over there that make those of us who simply don't want kids look bad. :/

They sure exist, but some of them take it to the extreme of regularly using such lovely terms as "crotch droppings" to refer to children and "cows" to refer to mothers, like the ones in the community linked above. I believe those are the ones referred to in the quote childfree unquote comment.

No, we call SOME female mothers cows and SOME parents breeders because that's WHAT THEY ACT LIKE. They are not parents. They have kid after kid after kid and never teach their little animals ANYTHING.

We actually do tell stories about the good parents we RARELY come across.

I guess it's because I've seen some sane people refer to themselves as "childfree" before. People who just don't want to have children of their own and are tired of being asked when they plan on having children just because they happen to be female and of child-bearing age, who don't absolutely loathe children. They are few and far-between, but I felt like if I said anything negative about childfree people in general that the one sane person who labels themselves as childfree would come out and complain

Okay, sorry then. I'm too used to seeing people disliking the term childfree, and stating the term should be childless or something else.
