I always thought Sanji had some serious unresolved issues around women that are the source of all his craziness. Considering his backstory only goes back to his time on that restaurant ship and not to where he was born I anticipate it's gonna get dealt with in the future.

At any rate I don't think the manga endorses Sanji's attitude; it pretty clearly paints it as a problem. And the rest of the crew don't really put up with Sanji's shit... or, like Nami and Robin, they just take advantage of him. That's probably why I can continue liking him. It's also fun to fuck with his head in fic XP
