This is me if you replace "merch" with "books." I swear to god, crack would be cheaper because I read one of the autor's books and then I order more of amazon, and anthologies...I try to mitigate this through libraries and borrowing, though.

I used to be addicted to buying books before I realized how poor I am. Now I borrow other's books or go to the library. Or read books I've won (Make a goodreads.com account, I've won at least 20 books from them).
I only bought like 4 books this year that weren't for school-related reasons. And 3 of them I bought with a gift card. I know people would say this is an improvement, but I sincerely miss spending and spending on books. My library looks the same way it did 3 years ago, and it makes me really sad ): I want to buy books again..
