You can actually play games very cheaply if you're dedicated enough to playing them and it's legal. You'll have to make a small investment and buy one new game (and the console), but then after you can go home and play it, then find the best trade in value and trade it in and get a new game for the same price of renting it, but no late fees. You just have to be consistent and don't wait too long so the TIV price is still relevant.

Personally I wait a year after the hype dies down some and buy it for 70-80% off new.
