Yyyyyyyep, agreed so hard. I mean, I had to suspend a lot of disbelief to get into the movie in the first place (Nobody in high school gives that much of a shit if you're having sex, NOT TO MENTION that Olive was just way to pretty to ever be ~unpopular~) but by that whole thing at the end I just sort of rolled my eyes and thanked Stanley Tucci that the movie was over.

I took the movie as semi - satirical, and it made it a whole lot funnier and enjoyable.

Wait, it wasn't supposed to be quasi-satrical?

...now I feel kind of stupid if no satire was intended, I always just assumed a touch of satire was inherent/obvious...

I've never really seen a movie that got anywhere near what my highschool experience was, so I didn't think Easy A was worst case scenario. I was just glad it was funny and that made most of the believability not matter.

Though I have known pretty girls to not be popular, Olive was snarky enough that I could believe it... well believe it enough for the sake of the movie anyway.

I'm with you. Nobody likes snarky girls in high school. Even the pretty ones.

This. Really, a nobody-type girl having sex once would be like "Huh? Whatever, hope you had fun."

Yeah. It was super surreal for me because almost everybody I knew in high school was having sex, and were for the most part way too busy worrying about their own sex lives to remember anything about anybody else's for more than like, a week. But Easy A was one of those movies I just found full of unlikeable characters being nasty to each other.

Well, depends on where you are. In my high school, it would be a pretty big deal if it was confirmed that you had sex (but then again, my school has a 70% Asian population). They probably should've changed the time period if they want to make the overblown reaction realistic though.

I don't know, I was in high school almost thirty years ago and it still wouldn't have blown the top off the place if someone was having sex. And that was a private Catholic school. I'm sure there were many fewer people having sex in high school then but it wasn't the biggest deal ever.

I guess if you go further back than that, it might be a thing.

(Also I didn't see the movie, for the record.)

With me, it wasn't a huge deal, but there was SOME deal. Like I did get comments.
But I don't think this was the norm. It was just because no one liked me. *shrugs*

I agree that I had to suspend my disbelief to get into this movie -- I was so surprised the first time I saw it because it was supposed to be so good. Once I took it as a satire on my second viewing I enjoyed it more. Although I disagree with you that "nobody in high school gives that much of a shit if you're having sex". It would depend on the group of people that found out in my high school and Easy A was definitely over exaggerated but girls in my high school did have to lie about having had sex in certain cases or they would be labeled as either "easy" or "sluts" or both. It was depressing.

Well, in my school, it was social suicide if you were a girl and sleeping around though. There was one girl who did and she was pretty much the topic of the day if she was found out to slept with another guy. She wasn't well-liked by the school though even though she was a pretty okay chick.

High school movies are based in truth for the most part, just that not everyone follows it to a T. Like my high school didn't have any 'cool' or 'unpopular' cliques like the Cheerleaders, Jocks, Nerds, Goths etc. But someone's sex life is usually on the grapevine even if most were not virgin ~~it's how I found out that an ex of mine spread some shitty rumors about me saying I was a pretty easy lay when we didn't even kiss yet, luckily my rep didn't change over that~~.
