(Anonymous) 2011-12-09 04:13 am (UTC)(link)I think Ceremonials is a brilliant, beautiful, emotional album, a perfect follow-up to Lungs (which has a few catchier songs, but also a few almost-duds). I've listened to it over and over, thought about it, analyzed it, felt it and breathed it and loved it.
I love how universal the lyrics and the melodies are, how Florence has admitted that the songs aren't that specifically symbolic, and how that seems like an invitation to interpret the songs yourself, which makes them even more meaningful. I first heard "Dog Days Are Over" when a period of long depression in my life came to a close and it became my anthem; I listened to Ceremonials and found it to be a beautiful, complicated, bright, subtle album.
The songs on it also just happen to remind me of the relationship (note: not necessarily the "'ship") between Dean and Castiel, which I find to be a beautiful, complicated, bright, subtle relationship.
