I can definitely understand the lack of fanworks as disconcerting. I'm like this for TWD fandom as I do not ship the popular pairings and all of my preferred ones are considered obscure, but what does get produced I hold like gems. Just think of it as quality over quantity.

That said, they aren't being completely ignored -- there is interest in the replies to the prompts and some discussion. Hopefully as the fandom grows, the other shippers do too.

The Grimm kink meme is my happy place. I think mostly because it is a brand spanking new fandom and that there are so many different threads that can be discovered. I don't imagine that the high number of fics written is going to stay the same as the months go on, but I am making sure that I enjoy it as it does.

I just got into a new fandom (well, not really 'got in', more like I started reading fic about it, I don't tend to be very involved with fandom) and out of THOUSANDS of fanfics, about 80%+ of them are about the same pairing (the only one that doesn't make sense since the characters barely even talk to one another in canon). *shrug*

See, I love Nick/Monroe but I can't even really enjoy the fic because a lot of them don't really feel like the characters to me. When I looked I saw a lot of super top, alpha wolf Monroe and young, fragile Nick and it kind of creeped me out because that's really not how I see their dynamic at all. Also, Juliette bashing. I hate Juliette bashing.

See, I don't really ship Nick/Monroe that much, though pretty much everyone I know does, and I'd be willing to read their fic, but I can't ignore the fact that Nick is in a relationship. I'd read my friends' work just to be supportive, but this is an issue. None of my friends go the way of bashing, but more the "ignoring Juliette exists" route, which is considerably preferable, but I can't forget she exists.

I just can't read it. :(

Depends. I don't give a shit that 90% of the fic that shows in my fandom is one pairing. It's my pairing, so I enjoy it for the different plotlines and possibilities. I don't have much respect for randomly pairing characters who don't canonically interact.

I used to be like "haha, sucks for you then!" to people who said this kind of thing (mostly because I usually ended up shipping the popular pairing)

and then I went to the Young Justice kink meme and found that it was like 80% Dick/Wally prompts, and I can't stand that pairing. Karma bites.

I understand. It's difficult to find gems in a popular pairing, much less a rare pair; if you're used to shipping a popular pairing in one fandom, and then move to another where you ship a rare pair, the enjoyment dulls a little. But don't worry, OP. Fandom favorites change, so the fanfic scale may balance out a little more with time. :)

Ugh, I feel ya. I used to ship mostly rare pairs and they were a PAIN to find. Everyone was all 'Oh, x/y ARE AWESOME!' (Seriously, I would love a pile of good Ariadne/Arthur fics, and would KILL for a epic! First time I love a pretty-much-canon couple, and it is dashed against a slash couple I see no chemistry between and who barely talked to each other. :/ )

Then I got into Supernatural and Smallville and basked for a time in my OTP being the chosen one. *sighs happily* Fandom, she is a fickle beast. Sometimes you win, sometimes you are screwed.

... However, I do need to watch Grim. *goes to watch it* Thanks for reminding me about it, OP!

I feel you, OP. I'm glad other people have found something to care about and are enjoying it and all, but the pairing does nothing for me. I'll just sit in my quiet, lonely Hank/Wu corner, thanks.

Even though most of the fic is OOC, Nick/Monroe is my guilty pleasure at the moment. That aside... I totally see where you're coming from. I went through the kink meme and when I was done all I could think was "Doesn't anyone ship anything else?!"
There definitely needs to be a lot more variety. (And a lot less Juliette-conveniently-exits-the-picture beginnings, but I digress.)

(On a semi-related note, can we all just call him Monroe and NOT Eddie? Geez, people.)

I feel you OP.
I have the same issue with the Teen Wolf kinkmeme. 90% of the prompts/fills are for a pairing that I dislike. Unfortunately its the fandom favorite.
It does make me treasure the few fics that exist for my favorite pairing, though.

On the bright side, Grimm isn't even through its first season and the fandom is in its infancy stage. As the fandom grows there should, hopefully, be more variety.
