I feel the same way. I like reading action fic, or conspiracy fic.

99% of the time, the forcible insertion of slash into these kinds of fics, feels artificial, out of place and flat out nonsensical.

I actually pointed this out to an author of a an otherwise very well crafted story that her randomly inserted kissing in the middle of a tense hostage situation was totally inappropriate.

Her response: "We'll Im a Yaoi fan."

Well okay, more power to ya.

Well, I feel the same way about the force of (typically heterosexual) romance into otherwise well-done action movies, so it's not just a slash phenomenon.

Also, that's just one genre, so it's kind of ridiculous to base your opinion just on that.
