My issue with crying characters isn't that it's "weak" or whatever the hell. It's just *generally* not that nice to look at when the full-on Ugly Cry hits. And even that only bothers me when the character is just standing there like Dawson. I think when people reach that point of a tearfest in real ilfe, we usually, almost instinctually, lower our heads or bring our hands to our faces, because we don't like being that open to the world. So to see characters not do that also feels jarring.
