And sure, interests change, but we still have our memories. I joke about being a Star Wars fan for life, because even though I haven't been active in it for years, it was really special to me once.

I think when people say I HAVE TO LOVE THIS FANDOM FOREVER it's less about clinging literally to the fandom and more about what that fandom means to them personally, and the space it took up in their life. Even though I've left some fandoms behind, I'll always feel fondness for the characters I got excited about and the stories that once spoke to me, even if they no longer do.
