Actually I assume that it's because they're oh so sure that what straight women love in men is their masculinity, which they actually equate to macho clichés. And that, obviously (to them), gay = not masculine at all so how could a woman be attracted to a gay man?

Also, I did talk with women who love to fantasize about the male singer of our favorite band, and they said that if they found out he was gay, they would no longer feel the same amount of excitation about him. I don't really get it, since either way, we'll never going to bed him, but... Some women DO feel that way, so I doubt these would enjoy slash or homoerotic stuff.

From a personal standpoint, I tend to stop fantasizing about a man when I find out he's gay because I mentally put him in the "off-limits zone" right next to the married men. If I kept mentally putting the guy in a pretend het relationship, I'd feel like I was erasing his sexuality even though no one else is ever going to know.

that's a good way to put it and pretty much how i feel on the subject. i wouldn't stop finding him hot or anything but i wouldn't overtly fantasize about him, either. there's no point to it, is how i see it.

that's just for me personally, though. not trying to rain on anyone's parade.
