Since people pointed out Saturday isn't enough time to see what LJ is doing with this or about this, moved the potential moving date to New Years' - 1/1/2012.
[Poll #1805208]
The other poll is closed and this one will be open until Dec 31st! You can edit your vote by going here.
As a note, I'm completely willing to either stay or move. Updating the comm is easy enough for me either way.
1 - It's not only about subject lines. Others have written up potential problems better than I could:

http://lj-releases.livejournal.com/71858.html?thread=7952050#t7952050
2 - For those worried about possibly needing to make DW accounts to comment, if a move happens: you don't need one! OpenID will let you comment as an LJ user (in the same way Facebook users can comment on LJ).
3 - For those worried about missing updates: I can crosspost to LJ to let you know a post is up (with a handy link over to it), I don't mind that (it's like a minute of extra work, no problem) - if the DW move happens though, the comments would be over there.
4 - Apparently, this is what we're getting next year.
5 - I'm aware workarounds are available - but those (or so I hear?) won't stay available for long. Also, those layouts have their own bugs. If someone can actually supply me with workable code that doesn't make long threads unreadable to change the layout, I'll give it a try.

raemia has an FAQ up here: http://raemia.livejournal.com/18347.html
7 - Tried the LJ workaround, give me your thoughts? Also contains links to what FS would look like on DW. Feedback on either/both?

As a note, if we keep the workaround, we have to keep the rest of the layout, too (as it relies on custom comment pages specific to Minimalism-Georgia).
What FS would look like on DW!

For the LJ side, the comment workaround that improves readability for those with complaints regarding that (also restores the 'thread/parent' options to read long threads better).
For the DW side - this isn't me, people asked for the test (right here).
There isn't actually any side I prefer which is a bit confusing as - one or the other seems to be obvious to you? With the posting times, I had a clear preference due to personal schedules and stated so, yes, but this I could easily go either way on. (:

Actually, using old lj after having seen new lj, I 100% support new lj. I miss it already, it had exactly what I was looking for. I shouldn't have to play "guess the new post", it should be capable of flagging it for me, and neither should I have to open threads in new windows or play the back button-forward button game again. Please revert to the new format, thanks.

Honestly I think we hold out with this style or a better one if it's created and wait until the site wide update and see then if everything becomes completely borked, which lets face it, it probably will and then move.
I think something changed between me writing this and posting probably making everything redundant, we'll see. Also yay at being able to edit now.
Editing because I can: I am able to expand a thread without it opening in a new page though it has happened to me a few times in the last couple days I think it's more a glitch sometimes than standard with this custom style.

But between new LJ and DW, I'm all for DW.

Anyone who's wary of DW/having a new account/not having all the features of LJ should really check them out, at the least. They're very supportive, responsive, and always adding new (good!) stuff.

This layout 'fix' looks wonky and is harder to navigate than either the old or the new layouts... *sighs*

I greatly prefer the new layout, but I'm okay with you using the workaround for the comments and keeping FS on LJ - comments included - although the expand button is back to not working properly for me (this is a problem I have always had with the old layout).
I don't like the design/old layout but I'm cool with it.
Still preferable to DW since I won't follow there (and I don't like the look on the links).
I prefer the new layout overall.
tl;dr
DW < work around FS < new layout FS

(Anonymous) 2011-12-23 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)I don't like how we don't have timestamps on these but this is so much easier on the eyes. Thanks for trying it out.

I still say temp move to DW while waiting for LJ to sort itself out.

In order to get to your DW sample, I had to click through four "Yes, I'm an adult. No really, I promise" prompts. I'm just a casual user of this comm, so I don't base my day around coming to check on the new secrets at precisely 7:00 (or whatever). Honestly, if it does move, I doubt I'll stick around. I just don't care enough to bother going through the trouble of following it over.

And if it moves, a link to every post will be cross-posted here, so if you follow the LJ comm you'll be getting notifications/updates on your friendslist like before (only the actual post/comments would be moved).

(Anonymous) 2011-12-23 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)There's another work around for Flexible Squares that I think is better than this Georgia work around. Can give it a shot and see if it works for the comm.

-There is a known issue with LJ that when a thread reaches a certain LENGTH it will break the comments beyond that final straw comment. Any comments or threads made after that comment will NOT be viewable. People can still COMMENT to those threads through their email notifs, but no one will be able to see the comments in the entry itself. However seeing as the other option is a new default style that people can't use at all it might not be too bad of a trade off. If your game/comms/whatever don't get that many super long threads you will be safe.
I don't think that'd work for FS...
