Most people seem to hate him and his performance just because a Jonas brother DARED try to do something other than the teeny-bopper music that they aren't the target audience for and want him to stay in his proper box and remain an object of mockery. Heaven forbid he try to expand beyond that role and be good at something that these people actually LIKE...

Ironically, he started on Broadway. And has been in Les Mis before.

Sigh. I'm old enough that, although I was aware of the Jonas Brothers as a pop culture phenomenon, they were in no way a factor in my adolescence. I don't think I could even name a single song.

Good for him if this is what he wants to do now. He may very well have enough raw talent get there. However, as a Les Miserables fan I do not think he was qualified for this concert at this point in his career, and honestly, that is all I care about.

And see, I consider that a legitimate opinion. It's the people who just hate his performance for no other reason than the fact that it is a Jonas brother doing it that I take issue with. "We hate you for conforming to the idea of a vapid shallow teen popstar with little shelf life!" "No, you cannot exist outside of the label we hate you by! CONFORM to our hatred, damn you!!" Crap like that.

Fair enough. A lot of people do seem to think that any association with "pop" at any point in your life somehow taints you forever, and that is really silly.

Although I really didn't like his performance at the 25th, it's Cameron Mackintosh I blame, and not him. I think he was just going for a name to draw new, young fans, and the score is just too demanding for that. I can see where Jonas may have potential, but it's still undeveloped.
