9. lol wow. i only recently heard of all this icon drama and it sounds so stupid. I just credit the artist and move on.

25. I kinda want to play Island more... but like I said before, it starts to feel like 4chan in a way... in the sense that everyone eventually has to fall into the same sense of humor and injokes and new people are so easily confused.

it leaks into the rp. and it's kinda hard to participate without going to atleast the OOC comm. seeing all the injokes there would make anyone feel left out and want to be in the chats too.

There are people who recently joined the RP, and they get the in-jokes just fine. You know why? They get to know other players instead of feeling left out. Trying to adapt works better than sitting in a corner alone and twiddling your thumbs.

25. Uhhh... the game itself hardly uses 4chan humor. In the OOC chat it does, but not the game.

The kind of reputation Island gets is... odd. As someone who isn't in the "in group" as so many people call it, I'm not really sure why people think it's THAT bad. It isn't... you just have to immerse yourself like ANY game out there. You get what you put in, yeah?

please dont think im being NEGATIVE about the RP, i don't hate it, and I'm planning to stop lurking and get my butt in there eventually. I'm just pointing out something that makes me uncomfortable.

Well no, maybe I should have mentioned it was both your saying and the secret as well.

Again: You get what you put in. If you don't make the effort to interact as much as most players do, then of course you're not going to get that much interaction yourself.

Really, we don't hate on outsiders or newbies or anything. I was once a newbie too, but I'm trying my best to interact and apply myself, as well as getting to know the players, and I've actually very little bad experiences.

Like every other RP out there.

Not lurking = good idea. You'll get more out of it.

ug, everything i say comes out wrong...

What i meant was, yes, it IS mainly part of the OOC and chats, but you kind of have to be watching the OOC comm if you're going to participate fully. And most people I'd imagine would wanna be part of the chats. I still lurk, and i notice theres stuff that does leak into the actual RP.

I did not mean to make assumptions, but that's just what it FEELS like to me. Like unless you start spewing /o/ /o/ /o/ all over, you don't feel like you fit in. It's not like I think they're trying to be that way, but my main fear about going back to the RP is feeling like I'll have to work to be able to fit in... like I'd have to put on a similar personality to that of everyone else in the RP.

Sorry for rambling, but I have a sinking feeling you're looking at me with dissaproving eyes.

Well, all I have to say is - you're dead wrong. :D

OOC Comm = Announcements. Activities. Planning. Discussing. Talking to members outside of their respective characters.

OOC Chat = Where we go and talk to each other. People become friends, people will probably want to RP with people they're more familiar with. It's just what they do. The chat is open for anyone to come in. You just have to give the AIM name to someone you know.

You lurk but you never post, yes, there's some things in the chat that come out in the OOC comm but otherwise it's not really a big deal? It's just friends talking to each other. YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO /O/ TO FIT IN. Just be yourself, of course it takes work to fit in, you have to be friendly and TALK TO PEOPLE. You don't have to be a clone, you just have to be ACTIVE, RESPECTFUL, and FRIENDLY.

I'm peeved off because you're making these assumptions that we're all crowd followers when you're never in the chats, you're never participating, you're "afraid" to RP because you have to work doubly hard to fit in? I don't understand that, because if you want to be in the RP you're rping for yourself. You make friends a long the way but if you're always lurking it's not going to happen. :/

Please don't think im making assumptions in a way that I'm saying "THIS IS HOW IT IS" because im not. it's just a general feeling. And a wrong one, I guess.

So what if I'm afraid? You know me. Of course I'm going to feel overwhelmed in a group of people using terms and names and jokes I don't understand. I apoligize that my own fear has led me to make assumptions for fears and things that are clearly my fault.

Though as a confession.. i never RPed for myself anyway I guess. I only wanted to be in the RP because you were there, but I guess it was too much for me. Sorry, please don't be mad.

I'm not mad. I just don't get why you would join an RP because of me. I'm boring, you should be there having fun. Not so you can feel inappropriately out of the group. You know?

Re: 25 - a-haha, I sometimes feel the same way about my game. All the "I can has" and "loev" and "haet" and reptitive references I don't get can get a little wearing after a while.
