Oh. If you were serious, then I apologize, but I can't apologize for being suspicious of anyone who says they don't recognize Harry Potter (fandom). "Boy with the glasses and Snape" indeed.

I've seen those Snape-on-a-plane jokes and one or two movie commercials, but I've never seen the books or movies at all.
I hear it's ridiculously popular everywhere, so I guess anyone would be suspicious.

...Aha, wow. I'm not judging you at all for not having read the books or seen the movies, and it's not that I think everyone is intimately familiar with the series - I just didn't expect to find someone so unfamiliar with it in this area of the internet, etc. I apologize for shouting "troll" like that at you, though. (Generally, when someone calls "troll" like that, they're accusing someone of deliberately trying to provoke wank or angry responses or stir up trouble in general. And as you particularly said you didn't recognize that "boy in glasses" or Snape - whom the outside media is starting to acknowledge has overcome Harry's popularity - it did seem suspicious.)

(Pssst, if you ever do want to read a good story/see some interesting characters, do try the books.)

It matters because it bothers some artists. Why is it so hard not to be a dick to someone who showed you their art when they didn't have to?

Well, what I meant to say is, if you ask the artist and credit, other people shouldn't bitch about the morality of using a fanart.

That's not what most people are bitching about. :D

There's nothing even conceivably wrong about using fanart you asked about.

But if that's what you think most people who use fanart do, then you live in a much happier place than the real interbutts.
