I use to browse campfuckudie constantly because of its A+ material, but then everything kind of went downhill when 4chan memes were introduced. Now you can't see a single thread without an influx of /b/ inside jokes. I'm completely disregarding the 'The jokes are only in the OOC comm!' argument because its irrelevant considering I haven't seen a single thread without spotting several of them.

Don't get me wrong--I'm a regular on 4chan, but jesus. I miss all the originality of cfud. I also miss the anonymity of 4chan, but all good things come to an end. The irony is that the original lurkers of /b/ (the people who created the empire!!11 as we all know it) can't stand roleplayers.

I know, this comment will be go unheeded or earn a 'cry moar' because woe, I'm totally *~bashing your RP and members~* when in reality I'm speaking my opinion.

Speaking as a CFUD player, I see no reason to disregard your comment. There are a lot of 4chan references in the game, and personally I don't get them because. . . I don't go to 4chan! Never have. I don't have a problem with people who do, but it's not my cuppa tea.

I tend to figure it's just the latest trendy thing, you know what I mean? Eventually, it'll go away. It's either that or I'll just have to sit in my corner without understanding the jokes.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-04 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully its just a fad.

[identity profile] sohmamon.livejournal.com 2007-07-04 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
It probably is. I've noticed that there's a lot of jokes that are big for a while, and then they eventually fade away. I can't see why that would be any different.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-04 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for being the first positive CFUD player to comment. =)

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2007-07-04 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm a player in CFUD and... I agree with you! 4chan humour doesn't work for me. Isn't my style! So I try not to use it gratuitously (although I'm not averse to a tiny reference here and there), but hey, if others want to, that's cool.

Your last sentence there kind of bothers me, though. What makes you think we'll tear into you and won't listen to opinions? We're pretty reasonable.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
see: every other thread CFUD players approached comments. They weren't the least bit reasonable.

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2007-07-04 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
You mean here or elsewhere? In this post... well. There aren't a lot of CFUD people in this comm, actually. And the ones that are floating around seem pretty calm to me.

If you mean elsewhere, like past events or whatever, you'll have to be more specific. And even then, the entire playerbase doesn't hold the exact same opinions or way of dealing with people, so it does seem like you're making a generalization.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-04 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Theres plenty of them.

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2007-07-04 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, here's a list of comments by CFUD people that I can identify in this post:

Even if some of these comments are mocking in tone, remember that the secret in question was not offering constructive criticism and didn't even give a reason for the opinion. It was just a mockery of everyone who enjoys a popular game, not a calm statement of "It could improve if you did suchandsuch." So I think that the tone expressed in the secret is a lot different from what you just said, which is perfectly valid and i find myself agreeing with. So you can't really say "people will be bitchy to me because they were slightly bitchy to ____" because it's an entirely different situation/thingy.

If you're not talking about that... sorry, but I'm kind of confused .__.

remember that the secret in question was not offering constructive criticism and didn't even give a reason for the opinion.

?????

What?

since when is [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets supposed to be a critique comm? they were stating an opinion, something that some of the members of the games seem to have taken issue with, and quite rudely, too. Doesn't speak well for your game if you allow these jerks to flop around and attack anyone who doesn't like their game, for their own reasons that they don't owe you!

[identity profile] moebot.livejournal.com 2007-07-05 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, I didn't say that fandomsecrets was supposed to be a critique comm. The person I was talking to (you?) said that CFUD players never listen to a valid concern based on what was happening in this post, and I said that the two weren't comparable, because valid input =/= random flaming, and who takes random flaming seriously?

No one is attacking anyone who "doesn't like" the game, they're making fun of... hey, whaddaya know, an anonymous attack. So I guess it doesn't speak well for the poster of the secret by your logic, huh?

(Anonymous) 2007-07-05 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
exactly.
