If you like to RP ships you like to RP ships. It's like any preference in RPing. If your current partners don't like your prefs, find ones who do. :)

I love to RP ships too, OP. I think part of the draw for me is, like you said, it opens up new levels of interaction and it's just fun to see how characters bounce off of each other romantically.

I think the best thing you can do about this is establish right of the bat with your partner what your preferences are and see what they think of them.

I love rping ships too op! I admit, I also like doing friendships and other interactions, I love to mess around with crack ships and what not. So you're not alone and if you're partner doesn't get it and/or just flat out doesn't like it - find a partner who does.

I like to RP ships, too, but the wording in this secret makes you sound like you think you're above anyone who doesn't like to RP ships, and that the 'places that ships can go that platonic friendship can't' are somehow inherently better. Even if that wasn't your intention to sound that way, giving off a smug sense of superiority will lose you RP partners faster than clashing interests.

I think it's pretty common to enjoy role playing romances. There's nothing wrong with that. If what you crave out of roleplaying is the feelings you get when you think about a romantic relationship, yeah, platonic is just not going to cut it for you. Nothing to be ashamed of.

Just, you know, don't try to strong arm someone else into this if they aren't into it, otherwise you are golden.

The only problem I have with people who want to RP ships is if they join a game I run (or one where I'm playing a character they want to ship themselves with) and expect to get their OTP regardless of whatever that character is currently doing in that game/world because it's their OTP (for instance, when a canonical "love interest" appears in a multifandom RP and starts trying to homewreck because someone was already playing the other half and is in a relationship with someone else now). I particularly hate it when a character is blatantly uninterested in any other part of the story and acts OOC (for instance, playing a character who is canonically a cop and acting blatantly less interested in solving a crime than in flirting with another character) because of it.

But if you really are IC in the non-romantic parts of the story and don't try to force your particular otps down the throats of other players, I think most people enjoy RP more when there's romancing and/or sexing involved.
