I think a lot of people grow attached to certain songs because they hear them associated with pairings they like, OP. It's pretty natural, tbh.

I've never understood how pills can fix depression since the problem(s) which causes the depression cannot be fixed by pills.

Heh, I get your meaning OP. You just have a very specific type, nothing wrong with that! And we all have certain stories which draw us in more and we prefer to watch, so it makes sense that you like a story with a romantic element that fits your favorite dynamic.

I can watch tv without a OTP, but I don't read any fanfiction except for romantic ones. To me the canon of a work is what I go to for a gen story, where I like to concentrate on romance (basically, what they rarely concentrate on in most the works I like) in the fanfic. And my type of OTP is one person who has a charismatic or fool-like persona with the other a very determined person who very strongly believes in what they think is right (whether or not it really is right doesn't usually matter to me), and who has a fairly steady personality. It's not too specific, but it is something I realized all my ships have. I guess I love that dynamic? *shrugs*

And sorry, I don't think I have any recs. Most of my female/male OTPs don't involve a blonde/light brunette, so far that I can remember... *thinks* Well, my OT3 has a blonde guy, but the girl is a redhead.

I really like the series, and I think that that ending could have worked really well if they'd spent an extra chapter or two setting it all up a bit better. I just felt the ending seemed too rushed, like they just tacked it on because they wanted to be done, but what actually happens at the end was as decent a way to end it as anything else. (I wanted a happier ending, but I'm a giant sucker like that)

tl;dr: IMHO the ending was a good idea but poorly executed.

I never got into that fandom, just the canon, but your overall statement reminds me of why I don't do journal-based RP anymore. It just got incredibly important and I had to just walk away. I miss it sometimes but also I still wonder why I let what was happening to a doubly fictional character matter to me that much. I knew I wasn't the character, I knew I wasn't in love with my RP partner but I worried about the game all the time.
