My workplace spent the three weeks before Christmas playing nothing but modern Christmas songs (by order of the GM, who coincidentally spends 90% of his time in his nice quite no-muzak-speakers office, but that's another thing). This wouldn't be so bad, except that a fair amount of my coworkers have a three-twelves kinda schedule, so yeah.

Twelve. Straight. Hours. On a playlist that felt like about 50% "All I Want For Christmas Is You" redos, 40% "Baby It's Cold Outside" (aka the date-rape carol) and "Last Christmas" sung by people with incredibly whiny voices, 5% annoying "Santa Baby" redos (I like the original, though) and 5% halfway bearable stuff like the Beach Boys' version of "Lil Saint Nick". I'm surprised nobody rubber-banded pens into the speakers just to make it stop. :P
