And I guess you haven't seen the clip with her naked (or at least topless) and coming on to Sherlock?
Hell, forget "ruining my ship", I'm pissed off that this is how they chose to introduce her (the "topless" scene was in the first trailer that actually showed her). She's supposed to be smart and probably powerful... and they introduce her showing her damn tits.

And again, part of my problem is that this is how they introduced the character to us. Not doing something smart, or clever, or amazing, but... being naked.

Who do you think I am, Sherlock Holmes?

(Anonymous) 2011-12-26 12:48 am (UTC)(link)what fucking bad BDSM fanfiction are you reading?
many, MANY dominatrixes don't HAVE to get naked to be a Domme.
and an actor/actress doesn't need to be naked to get the sexuality of a character across. not if they're any good or their director is any good.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-25 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)I also like how in the books Irene was an impossibly minor character (one short story, period), while every adaptation has jumped on her as possible love interest.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-26 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)With Moffat's record for writing women? I don't have much hope.

Oh, and for the record: I have seen fic where Sherlock ends up screwing Jim, and I hate it even more than him being with Irene. So he's not exempt as far as I'm concerned.

I thought it was pretty clear she's going to be a sexual person, and what with also the obvious eye contact going on between the two, she's going to be very challenging. I don't see how her toplessness lessens the latter.
Then again, I do like my equal opportunity fan service anyways.

It would hardly be the first objectionable way female characters have been written on Sherlock, though, so I can't help but still feel that all the anger being directed at the angle they're taking with Irene indicates some fans have screwed-up priorities and irrational investment in the slash, even if others are actually fans of the character and legitimately concerned about what's being done with her.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-26 03:02 am (UTC)(link)You are aware that Steven Moffat runs this show, right?
Because honestly this introduction doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
