(Anonymous) 2011-12-26 01:01 am (UTC)(link)they sit down every day and write, even if the words are shit. they write and make sitting down and writing a habit. they treat their writing like a job.
not very romantic but a reality.
now I'm not saying that the op wants to have that kind of relationship with writing and is just happy with it staying as a hobby, but it's something to consider. if you're waiting for inspiration to hit, you may be waiting a long time.
so you sit down and just do it.

(Anonymous) 2011-12-26 02:45 am (UTC)(link)Uh, if they're a professional writer, isn't writing their job? If they're getting paid to produce books/stories/articles/etc. then I'd expect them to treat it like a job.
That said, I know people seek that wonderful land of getting paid to do what you love for a living, but as far as I've been able to find, if that job involves something creative like singing, writing, drawing, painting, etc. you grow tired of it after a while (even if it's still something you deeply love). I do some freelance art, and when I had to draw to put food in my mouth, it wasn't a hell of a lot of fun. I still love the craft, but when I need it as a source of income it kind of sucks.
