Y'know, this reminds me of how confused I was when I read about Hagrid's mixed parentage in HP. I vaguely remember the description of the size difference between humans and giants to be stupid (like his dad could fit in his mom's hand or something) and my mind went blank after I tried to figure out the mechanics of the sex that would have brought Hagrid into being.
