(Anonymous) 2011-12-27 01:37 am (UTC)(link)And, honestly, most of the people I've seen claiming Beast/Belle is abusive aren't active in the Beauty & The Beast fandom. They're either Disney fans who prefer a different princess and use the whole 'abusive relationship' thing to put down Belle (for some reason, certain Disney Princess fans can be hyper competitive and vicious about comparing princesses). Or they're people on general comms like this who swing by with their edgy opinions about, for instance, Ariel being a bad feminist, whose arguments always fall apart when held up against what actually happens in the movie, compared to what they vaguely remember happens in the movie.
