The only time it bothers me is if they name them after a character they're attracted to and write smutty fic/draw sexy art for. Because that just seems awkward to me. There's this one character who I love and want to write fic for, specifically him being roughly bent over flat objects and fucked six ways from Sunday by various other characters, but he has the same name as my brother, and I find it difficult to forget that fact. I didn't exactly have a choice in that situation, so I can't imagine willfully inflicting that kind of trauma on myself. DX

Maybe make up a name and write that, then find-and-replace with the real name when you're done writing?
