Dude, a lot of pets -- and people, for those going "well at least it's not kids!" -- are named after fictional characters. My best friend was named after a soap opera character her mother adored; I was named after a character from Anna Karenina. This is not a weird thing, believe me.

Besides, when you name a pet a fandom name, you soon come to associate the name more with the animal than the character. I should know; it happened to me and my parents with Scheherazade, Pinklepurr, Mystique, Baron Humbert von Gikkingen, and Sam -- most of whom my parents named, not me. :P
