Agreed. It seems like some people suspect that she calls herself bisexual in order to escape accusations about how she fetishizes and commoditizes the gay community, but I think it's a problem that people will only believe a person is gay/bi/queer if that person has never been publicly accused of problematic behavior. Straight appropriation of queerness is a real thing, but it seems to me like it's important on principle to believe people when they say that they're queer, because otherwise you'll be denying real and innocent people their identities on the off chance that they may be some straight asshole doing a bad thing. Why can't Gaga can still be called out on her behavior even if she is bisexual? Bi and gay people can still say and do problematic things; I've seen plenty of biphobic comments made by gay people and homophobic comments made by bisexual people.
