19. I still haven't finished the anime. . .I liked Light's pathetic and slightly embarrassing end in the manga, though--never *wanted* him to get a dignified death. The funny and silly in Death Note always worked with the 'this too is meaningless' theme of the whole manga, I thought.

3. I don't mean this in a wanky way... but take a step back and study what more popular ficcers/artists/whatever do. Are there elements in their stuff that you don't use? Do they do one particular thing better than you do, even if everything else is worse? Are they one of those people who's been on LJ for umptybillion years and has a million people on their flist? I'm not saying that you have to do any of those things to be popular--but once you know what they are, you'll know why those people's stuff gets more read, and you can choose whether you want to do those things and get more fans, or keep doing what you're doing with more realistic expectations.

6 - the only one that annoys me is the one that you pointed out in particular. Whenever someone uses that icon on a serious issue (I saw it on a post about a hate crime once), it looks to me like they are comparing the serious situation with something that was small, internet, and over in a few days. I know that most of them probably don't think like that, but if Strikethrough is most somber icon... >>

19 - fucking YES. I wish I knew why they took one of the most fantastic and daring endings of any series ever, and tried to tone it down. The entire POINT was the Light doesn't get a happy ending. =( (Spoilers: ) It was the most perfect ending the series could have had, imo.

DuckTales, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers, and somewhat Gummi Bears totally play into the anime/fantasy/cartoon fan I am now.

What makes you certain that yours is that much better than theirs? While comments are indeed a popularity contest, sometimes they do indicate something. I somehow doubt there isn't room for you to improve as well.

But, when in doubt, chalk it up to name recognition or more popular characters. Perhaps better summaries.

I want to read that manga so bad, because I loved the novel to pieces, but the art style has zero appeal for me. And you know, that probably makes me sound shallow, but manga is a visual medium! Why shouldn't I stick to reading stuff that appeals to me visually?

3. I think that about 90% of us get that way. It really is annoying, but fans tend to go for mediocrity.

6. I swear, mine's for the lolz. I thought it was overblown and full of way more drama than it needed.

10. Reno is damn hard to play (in my case, write) well. He's not just a slut/idiot/drunkard/anything else. He's dimensional, if a bit silly at times.

OMFG. After my secret a while back I thought I was getting over it (sleeping with lights out now, yay me) but then... animation.
Bloody fucking hell.
Could barely bring myself to scroll up and check the secret's number, had to glance away before I saw them mid-pounce. Weeping Angels = scary fuckers.
