To be honest, I like 'em too. I know they don't really fit and theirs is the worst song, but the rest of the film is just so intense that it's nice to have a break.

First off, your icon is hiliarious. XD

Secondly... I kind of agree with you re the film needing a break, because it is intense, I just wish they'd done it better. The Lion King is pretty intense too but Timon and Pumbaa work. I think maybe if they'd made it more explict that the gargoyles were imaginary friends and cut down on the pop-culture-y parts they wouldn't be nearly so hated.

I liked them too, OP. In fact, I like pretty much all of the Disney comic relief characters that most people hate.

Hehe, I love them too! I thought they were funny as a kid and I think they're funny now. I even love their song!

Dude, so did I! The 'FLY, MY PRETTIES, FLY!' part is one of the parts in that movie guaranteed to make both my wife and I laugh.

I was always just indifferent to them. I didn't mind them, but I didn't absolutely love them either. I don't get the hate. Plus, one of the male gargoyles flirted with another male, which was a nice step for Disney.

The porky one annoyed the hell out of me but I like the other two.

I'm not a total hater but through my adult eyes they don't really work for me.

At the time the film was out though I didn't care, and thought the bit at the start of their song (something like Paris is burning "true that's because it's on fire...") was the most hilarious thing ever.

Kind of hated them sorry, but eh, at least they're still not as bad as...

I'd almost rather have the gargoyles have their own spin off movie than watch the actual sequel to HoND again. (It was just dull, forced and painful).

I only saw this movie once or twice, when I was a kid, and I remember liking them best of all.

I like them, but only if I think of them as Quasi's imaginary friends tbh

I liked them, too. Their banter amused me a great deal. And to be honest, they were kind of needed, the way that Wybie was needed in Coraline; Quasi needed somebody to bounce his thoughts off of, else he'd just be talking to himself.

I think the problem was their role was played up a little TOO much in the latter part of the film. And as has already been said, their song was the weakest in the film.

I loved them. I mean, I'm adopted, but I had dreams where they took care of me :P

I'm okay with Laverne and Victor, but Hugo was way too over the top.

I don't think I dislike a single thing about that movie.

I like them, too and even "A guy like you." It gets me to smile.

Wait, they're supposed to be imaginary???!!!

This... makes me unexpectedly sad. I love them. And if they're imaginary it really means that Quasi has been stuck up there by himself this whole time, and that... No. :(

I would have liked them if they'd just existed in Quasimodo's imagination. But in the end they came to life for real, that was so fucking dumb.
