Yeah, 2 wrongs don't make a right, and all that. Plus, every time a man gets sexually abused in fiction, it always seems to be played as "making him more female," which pisses me off.

Yeah...most of the time when I've seen an adult man sexually abused in stories, he's gay or bisexual, as if to say, "if you sleep with other men, you're a woman, and we'll treat you like we treat women." Does not help at all.

Almost all male prison rape scenes. Most male/male rapes in media. And in the rare case of female on male (in media), it's feminizing the male, taking away agency

not on Oz. Well actually, occasionally on Oz, but it was PRESENTED as fucked-up and bullshit when the rapist acted that way. (There was a large amount of male rape on that show.) Srsly, I can give a list, I asked for specifics and "most male/male scenes in media" really isn't

like, times when it wasn't like that: Deliverance, Pulp Fiction, Mysterious Skin, Oz, the Dragon Tattoo series, and....fuck I knew another one but I can't remember it now. and to be honest thinking this much about rape in media is getting incredibly depressing =/

The only time I've ever seen it in vidya, F.E.A.R. 2, it wasn't presented that way at all either. Guy was clearly the baddest dude around, and the assault did not change that.

Er, seconding the request to be more specific. I've been exposed to a lot of media in my lifetime, and I've yet to ever see it presented as "feminizing" the male. I have severe doubts as to the accuracy of the "almost all" claim, thusly.

Depictions of rape tend to take away the victim's agency. The implication that writing a character without agency is feminizing is deeply problematic. All characters, male and female, ought to be written as complete people with agency and all rapes by their nature deny that agency.

ITA that two wrongs don't make a right, but I'm intrigued by the idea that fictional sexual abuse of males is played as 'making him more female'. Admittedly it's not something I've seen often, but to take two mainstream media examples that spring immediately to mind, neither Nick from CSI nor Morgan from Criminal Minds are played as 'female' following the reveal of their history of sexual abuse. YMMV, of course.
