(TL;DR coming)...I don't necessarily feel this secret, but I get why you do. Cause it is SUCH BULLSHIT that seriously almost every fucking time a story puts a female character totally at the mercy of a man, it's always a threat, it's always implied, that little alarm in my head always starts going off. Even if it doesn't actually happen. It's what also puts the rare movie where it doesn't happen, like The Descent (which I already loved without this extra angle) in SO MUCH HIGHER ESTEEM for me, because these guys don't want to rape these girls, they want to kill and eat them. Still horrible, but not gendered and misogynistic and objectifying and a Power Thing and a danger it seems women ALWAYS HAVE TO FACE in tv and movies and men ALMOST NEVER do.

I do agree that it would be better to instead have rape be less of a plot point in general, cause it's seriously fucking overdone at this point, but I can still appreciate the balls of every movie/show/thing that puts a guy in that position instead ~~without playing it for laughs, obviously, cause that is a whole other pile of what the FUCK~~.

I totally get what you're saying and I agree, but that sentence totally read to me like "Yeah, they kill her and eat her corpse, but at least they're not sexist. That would be AWFUL."
