Well, I WILL say this: I totally agree with you on the double standard of boys love vs. girls love. It bugs me when fans are like "I hate Nina because she's a racist, and annoying, and helped a mass murder, and because she was a LESBIAN." Oh, so being lesbian is as bad as the rest of those things? Thanks. Fine example of political correctness, there. Yes, the scene where she masturbates to thoughts of Euphemia was squick, but masturbating to thoughts of your crush really isn't that weird. At least she didn't kill her crush's love interest or anything (*cough* Rolo.) Oh wait, he's a cute boy killing another cute boy's girlfriend. Well, that's okay, then...

And I'm not a big fan of the character AT ALL (as I've said every. single. time. one of these secrets pops up) but the double standard thing really isn't cool. And neither is the misogyny in the secrets above.

Oh, she was there is no doubt. I just find it troubling that there are far creepier characters, but she gets more hate for being a girl who likes a girl.

Exactly. I like Rolo and all, but man he is one creepy little jerk. Come to think of it, Lelouch is pretty creepy, too, what with his over obsessive sister complex and his controlling behaviour.

And yet somehow Nina is 'the creepy one' and they're just 'sweet' or 'romantic'.

I was going to bring this up too. I despise Nina because I will never forgive her for the genocide (plus the attempted destruction of everyone at Ashford to get at Zero at the end of R1) and the racism, but I don't often feel at home with most of her haters because of all the homophobia shown towards her. I, too, hate that "lesbian" is so often included in the list of what's "wrong" with Nina ("She's a psycho genocidal racist LESBIAN who MASTURBATED to a GIRL!"). It really bothers me. There is nothing wrong with Nina being interested in Euphemia.

Except some haters will also suggest that Nina's masturbating meant that she must have intended to rape Euphie. The girl's got enough issues to hate her for without projecting more.
