well, I went to see it with my mom (age 60, republican), who actually hasn't seen the first one/doesn't know much of anything about the characters (I was just in town for my birthday and we wanted to go to the movies, and I wanted to see Sherlock), and at the end of the movie she said "so, if they're gay, why did one of them get married?"
So I don't think you really need the slash goggles. Unless my mom has something she's not telling me.
