I'm honestly curious. I've been away from FS for a long time, but where have all the commenters gone? This time last year by now the comments would be in hundreds.

99% trolls are gone or retired and most of the depressed people who submitted "this [x] got me through depression/is the reason I haven't killed myself/etc" -secrets have killed themselves by now.
Oh and probably tumblr - explains where all the SJWs have gone.

It was partially already getting slow, and the recent LJ comment page changes have caused some people to be unable to use the site for various reasons. And some of the people that can use the site are just pissed off at LJ. Lots of people have jumped ship to DW.
