I hear you OP. I hate the Tumblr tags for this very reason (among other things) and most recently one of the LJ comms had a lovely little Cinderella victim blaming post. I get that it's a new show and it hasn't found it's legs but come on. The amount of Emma hate I've seen along with the Regina and Mr. Gold ass kissing bothers me. As fascinating as they are the excusing of their actions chaps my ass.

Did you see the Emma hating post too before it was deleted? The OP was so kind to point out that Henry is fine with Regina because she feeds, clothes and provides education to him. Um hello Narcissistic Psychopath who proves she is more a child than her child is not a healthy place for a child to be. I was very glad to see that post deleted as it was character bashing. I'm surprised the Cinderella one is still there though.

I really like the depth and the bad places this show is taking the characters but I am a little disappointed at the lack of in-depth meta, considering what has been provided. :(

D: No. I didn't see that. I was pretty revolted by the victim blaming in the Cinderella post and then all the agreeing to get through it all. I've heard some rumbling about how Henry should respect Regina because she's there physically but she's so checked out emotionally that it hurts my heart.

The lack of meta for this show is upsetting. I just tell myself to be patient and contribute where I can.

A friend and I are working on a big post about the names, which I hope we get finalised soon. So keep an eye out for that. We tend to just meta in chat with each other cause of the lack of depth we see elsewhere. There have been some really good discussions but they are few and far between and I'm not that interested in all the shipping so much. I'm happy with the canon couples and possibilities.

I keep planning on writing a thing about feminism and OUAT; hopefully more meta will come soon? I don't know when my thing will be written (since I'm away from home for the semester and super busy), but look out for it? I'm also vaguely interested in how sexuality is presented on the show (via Ruby and the way that Mary Margaret's one night stand was portrayed).

There really should be more meta/in-depth discussion for OUAT. Because the show totally provides for that, but I haven't seen too much. It's better on LJ than on Tumblr, IMO, because the tumblr tag seems to be mainly "SHERIFF GRAHAM NOOOOOO" and stuff. (Tumblr loved them some hot hipster sheriff).

I stopped even reading it when it became clear that the majority had a very skewered view of abuse. There's nothing "wimpy" about suffering from it. She had no choice. Disney!Cinderella seems to get a lot of blame too, so I kind of expected it, but still.. ugh.

I don't even know. I'm not even a HUGE Ella fan (I like her well enough, but not as much as, say, Mary Margaret or Archie), but blaming her is just ridiculous.
