Agreed. I'm fine with liking her as the villain she is, but when I hear people trying to excuse everything she's done, I don't get it. Saying Emma's the one in the wrong, calling Henry an ungrateful brat, feeling sorry for her. Really? She's a liar, rapist, and murderer. I don't care what Snow did to her. It doesn't excuse ruining the lives of everyone else. It doesn't excuse what she did to Graham and to her own father.

What's the problem with people feeling sorry for villains? Pity doesn't inherently involve excusing or justifying gross things.

I feel sorry for her in the sense that she'll never be able to get the happiness she desperately wants because she's too blinded by hate and she can't let go of her anger or revenge. I guess I just don't understand feeling sorry for her about Graham (since she killed him) or about Henry wanting to spend time with Emma over her. The pity for her that I've seen always involves shifting blame to the other characters.

Well, to be fair, the show is doing a lot of that to Regina. The 'look how evil Regina is!' while ignoring the problematic actions of the other characters. But the show is really focused on the overall arc and takes sloppy plothole-ridden shortcuts to get there.
