I like Gaga, but I hate the Telephone video. Offensive 'playing gay' from Gaga and Beyonce and that idiotic moment when she flashed the camera to 'prove she wasn't a man'.

Jonas Ackerlund, y u make such stupid sexist music vids? (Artists I like, y u have Ackerlund direct your videos???)

Edit: obviously artists in question are all agreeing to his decisions; not just blaming him.

I wonder if Gaga realizes that some men have vaginae? Therefore flashing her hooha didn't prove anything.

I thought that the point of that was to prove that she doesn't have a dick, not to prove that she's "not a man." It was basically a "fuck you" to that stupid rumor. Reading into it and thinking her to be transphobic is just stupid.

Why I do not share all of OP:s opinions on Gaga, the ten-minute music video did bother me - it's annoying when musicians do MVs with constant interruptions in the song.

... and obviously, my English is a bit off today - "While I..." and "make MVs", it is.

Huh. This video is actually the only one of hers I like. I dislike her other stuff. Go figure.

I don't mind the video but it was a big shock initially - I had a whole club themed video planned out in my head as well. It's unsettling when a song creates images in your mind and the video is *completely* different.

Hmmmm I actually like that video. I will agree that it was 10 minutes of WTF, but I love Tarantino, especially Kill Bill, so I loved the whole homage feel of it all. Loved that they rode around in the Pussy Wagon, I always get a big chuckle thinking of that line from the movie "The Pussy she died?"

I didn't really like the song before I saw the video, but seeing Gaga dancing around in the prison looking fierce as hell (and strange as hell, but still) actually sold it for me, go figure.

I rolled my eyes at the video and I don't care for the song, but really. What's so wrong with self-indulgence and 'wackiness for the sake of wackiness'? I never understand it when people say something is self-indulgent like it's such a horrible thing. IMO, 'because I want to and I can' seems like a valid enough reason to dance around with soda cans in your hair.

which is attentionwhorish and just generally annoying as all hell.
It's asking to be paid attention to, not on merit, but on how "kooky" and "unique" and "speshul snowflake" you are, which is kind of disgusting in itself.

Really? Telephone is where I really fell in love with Gaga. Also I don't see how the story is incoherent? It seems pretty... obvious what's happening in it.

it's my favourite of her videos. She later said that if she could redo it she would, cause she was like BURSTING WITH IDEAS and you could really tell cause there's much less cohesion to it. That's why I like it, though.

I felt like it was something much more for fun than something to be taken seriously, thus the really obvious product placement.

Seriously, it's like it's 2010 all over again!
