Hrm, not sure how to reply to this one. From what you wrote, though, it seems like your friend had really strong, negative feelings about the couple, and those reasons had nothing to do with you? Hating on a couple is part of a process of reviewing a piece of fiction, and it comes up naturally i.e. once you finish a series instead of ONLY as a response to someone posting about the couple. You also mention that there are plenty of legit reasons why people don't ship and you respect differing opinions, so I don't see the problem here unless your friend made the mistake of going "I can't get how anyone in their right mind would ship this! It's disgusting and I seriously lose respect for anyone who actually likes it!"

In which case, yeah, that's awful, and I'm sorry about that.

I'm kind of curious what the fandom is? I feel like it reminds me of my experiences with ASOIAF fandom. A friend read the books recently and her favorite character is my least favorite character who I've ranted about on several occasions. Now I feel guilty. I don't think less of her for having that character as her favorite, though!

I feel ya, OP. Except strangely I am a person who was hoping this was my chance to get into comics, their key demographic. I picked up Superman #1 aaaaannd...

Yeah, they kinda failed at attracting a new crowd. At least with Superman (which is arguably one of the ones they really should have gotten right). It's not that it was bad, it just left out so much info that new people didn't know which left me scratching my head. It had no proper introduction of the characters, and I got the feeling that they chopped the baby in half in order to try and appease both mothers (Old fans and potential new fans). If they really wanted to bring in a bunch of new people and be effective at it, they either should have done a total and complete reboot or... *gasps* Do what a lot of other authors do and start a new plotline that only alludes lightly to past events! Like one of those sequal-thingies when it is years later, or something. If they advertised the hell outta that and did it well I would so buy it.

Also, Lois Lane is supposedly a high-powered news woman and yet she wears mini skirts, just-outta-bed hair, and PURPLE LIPSTICK.

Seriously. What woman wears purple lipstick to work? (Barring having a alternative-esque job, of course.) I feel like the artists didn't even bother to look at any number of women working in the news... that aren't one of the ones on fox, of course. But even they don't wear purple lipstick.

Eastern Promises is the only non-Italian based mob/gang movie I can think of. Focuses on the Russian mob, or the voř v zakone, anyway. It's a David Cronenberg movie from 2007. I've seen it a handful of times, still don't know if I really liked it or not. So, there! *recs*
