When I was about 10, my dad stopped to help a young couple in a pickup truck after they'd gone off the road in a snow storm. I remember the men had planned to push while the woman ran the truck in reverse, but she had no idea how to work a manual without killing it, and she was worthless for pushing, so she pretty much just sat on the side of the road and did nothing. The men eventually got the truck out, but it took much longer than it should've. All I could remember thinking was how easy it would've been if the girl had known what the hell she was doing.

/cool story bro, but just agreeing. Whatever your motivation, it's a useful life skill to have.

That's a really cute reason.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ--

I'm sorry. Childhood memories. They were nice.

That's all I really have to add.

BUZZ LIGHTYEAR OF STAR COMMAND. AAAA MY CHILDHOOD AAAAA. <3 <3

You should totes learn! Driving a manual is a really kickass skill to have no matter what the reason!

And I'm not just saying that because I'm a trucker. XD

Rewatched this show recently and it does not hold up to the memories at all.

Except for the drug PSA episode. That's still hilarious.

Every person should try to be able to drive any kind of vehicle they could reasonably encounter, so good on you!

LOL. That reminds me of why I learned to drive one. Mom bought this used, manual drive car for cheap for me when I was 18 and insisted that I learned how to drive it instead of using her car.

She got me to learn it by telling me, "Men love women who know how to drive a stick!" OMG. Was so mortified. Is still embarrassed but it's funny as hell too now! :)

That's so cute, OP :)

But knowing how to drive a stick is honestly a really useful skill. My husband doesn't know how to drive a stick, and it's been a problem at some points. It's meant that he's been really limited when our car broke down and friends/family offered to loan us a car. Even if you only ever end up using an automatic, knowing how to drive one is IMO a really good thing if you can do it. :)
