What irked me a lot more was that the change in her (and Magneto's) way of thinking came so abruptly. The jump was too huge and not done well in my opinion.

But they didn't change their way of thinking at all.

First Magneto didn't want non-mutant CIA officials finding mutants, saying that they should be found by "their own kind". Then he tells Charles that they don't need to try and be the better men, because they already were.

Mystique had been telling Charles that she hoped it would be and her against the world (read: non-mutated humans) since infancy.

They did not change their way of thinking.
