I just don't cosplay Hetalia. :/ Mostly because I can only do Hungary, but that's not the point, is it? What are you saying? That you only have a problem when people cosplay Hetalia, or that you don't like any fanwork with Hetalia in it because you see it as disrespectful?

I'm not really sure I'm following you at all, OP, but if what you're saying is that you hate how people are so fast to jump on any potentially offensive portrayal of the Nazis within Hetalia fandom as a horrible thing, but let offensive Soviet Russia, British Empire, etc portrayals slide, then I agree. The way some things in this fandom handle the Nazis is sickening and there's not excuse, but it really bugs me when someone does something just as offensive with Soviet Russia or some other dictatorship, or another serious historical period, etc and no one bats an eyelash because no one really knows what they're talking about to see what's wrong with it.

I was with you on the Soviet Symbols. I find it really irritating how that's considered 'okay.'

But you lost me TOTALLY with the stupid fatshaming and the ridiculous argument regarding UK/USA- Yes wearing an outfit based on a US WWII uniform is TOTALLY the same as dressing up as wearing a Nazi uniform complete with Swastika. A Swastika directly represents the atrocities of the Nazis during WWII. A generic American WWII uniform in no way directly represents the atomic bombs or whatnot. ...Unless you think that every single man or women who served in WWII 'represents' that. In which case eww.

Nazism is still considered a bigger offense, because in case you haven't noticed, it's still very much alive.
Soviet symbols on the other hand, don't always represent evil for former soviets. That doesn't make them acceptable; I'm just saying they have a different history compared to swastikas and Nazi salutations.

While no one can deny that the Soviet Union committed atrocious crimes (I'm not sure if they are considered genocide or not, just I'm not sure any of the horrid things the British Empire did is considered genocide or -pardon this not-American if the United States has even been accused of such) the hammer and sickle represent communism which is not a murderous, evil ideology per se. Many parties and associations use that symbol and none of them want to revive the horrors of Stalinism. The swastika is another story.

Finally, the Dresden Bombings are hardly in the same level than the Third Reich crimes. Because England did not start the war and did not organise the murder of millions of her own people. Nor did the United States (I won't get into the nuclear bombs issue because I know more of European history than of American and what we learnt about the nuclear weapons in uni is not enough for me to speak.
