Yes, but on the flip side, how many humans were privy to the knowledge that fish/crabs/etc. were actually as sentient as people? It was something the mermaids knew and hated humans for, whereas the humans probably had no clue. I can't really fault them for that. :/

None. I'm not saying the humans were exceptionally evil. But that made them no less horrifying and it was never directly addressed.

Ariel proved herself a sociopath when she didn't run out of the palace horrified.

That is true, but can you really see it being addressed in a Disney movie?

Or she proved herself to be very savvy, and knowing that, if she ran, she'd never get the kiss & the ability to stay human and try to change things, whereas if she ran, she'd become Ursula's pawn, and useless.

It could really go either way. :/
