There would have been a bigger fandom if the show wasn't filled with (recycled animation) flashbacks. You know something is wrong when there is a 3-minute-long flashback to the first episode... in the second fucking episode!

THIS. It could have been really cool, but I thought it felt like it was a 26-episode series with maybe 10 episodes worth of story.

Yeah, I think pacing was a bigger issue with this series rather than the fact that the too main leads were female. I can't bring myself to rewatch the series because of it. The soundtrack is love though, still my favorite Yuki Kajiura soundtrack to date.
