I honestly can't blame Disney. First and foremost, they're a business trying to make money--which means appealing to as many demographics as possible by whatever means necessary.

I can see a young boy going up to his "MY SON WILL BE A MAN!" parents and saying, "I want to see The Snow Queen!" because he's just a kid who wants to watch a cartoon (and society and his parents haven't bashed him over the head with traditional gender role stereotypes yet) and his ridiculous parents thinking, "The Snow Queen? NO SON OF MINE..."

We can pretend they don't exist, but they do. At least with the new trend in hip, loosely related to the story, one-word titles, the parents are fooled long enough to take the kid to the theater and see the story. In the end, the kid wins--which is the only win I care about.

I guess I'm just of the school of thought that I don't care how they package the present, as long as it's good enough to get the package opened.

Yeah, I think this is how I feel, too. I mean, I'd like if everyone suddenly got over old stereotypes, but just doesn't happen that way. Disney is a business first and I think it's understandable for them to worry about who the title might alienate. I might not like it, but I understand it enough to forgive Disney.
