It's probably one of my favorite superhero movies. I can't explain it. (but I guess I'm going to try)

Pretty visuals
I love anything about space and aliens
The twisted Norse mythology
Fun villain
It didn't take itself too seriously (a la TDK)
The Hero wasn't perfect
The Hero didn't spend the whole time angsting (but I guess Loki did enough of that)
I didn't hate the human characters like I was expecting to

It's one of my favorite superhero movies, too. I agree with you on all of these points. I'd add:

The female characters were characters and not just eye candy.
It spent a lot more time developing Asgard than I expected.
The Love Interest did not have to compromise or give up her job (which is her whole life) to get the guy.

But Portman's character didn't really do shit except fawn over Thor (and give him a half-assed reason to try and make it back to Earth), and the other human chick was just kind of in the background. The woman warrior in Asgard was pretty rockin' though. Those are all the female characters I remember from this film. They were kind of pointless imo.

I'd like to recommend this article (http://www.socialjusticeleague.net/2011/09/is-thor-a-feminist-movie-yes/) to you.

Also, for once, the love interest was not strung upside down by the villain, which was a very nice change I'm looking at you, Mary Jane Watson.

Yep, thought about adding that last one, decided to sum it up with 'didn't hate humans.'

I agree with this, so freaking much. Thor was just so boisterous and happy throughout much of the movie, even after being cast down to Midgard, that it made him adorably charming.

All I know is that Spiderman was such a drag to get through because I was waiting for the witty sarcastic comments and he spent the whole 3 movies with the sad jerk face on.

And ffs Batman, go to therapy. You're a billionaire. You can afford it. Assault and battery, even if used on criminals, is not an acceptable coping technique.

This is another reason I enjoyed it so much. It's also why I was so confuzzled when I saw that most of the fan fiction of Loki-centric? Doesn't anyone want to play with the big, boisterous, fun guy?

Yes, this. Personally, I'm the morose person myself, and I'm attracted more to men who aren't like that. Plus, Thor is pretty much exactly my physical type. Chris Hemsworth is gorgeous.

I'm the same way. I'll go for different physical types, but big and buff is my favorite.

Chris Hemsworth is gorgeous.

Absolutely. I still can't believe he gets so little love.
