tbh i was surprised ppl didn't hate this as much as they hated green lantern. i enjoyed thor, but i also enjoyed green lantern, and thought they were both at about the same levels of cheesiness. obviously the quality of thor was marginally better than green lantern in terms of character development and stuff, but overall... they were both campy and bad but good

Can't speak for others, but my biggest issue with Green Lantern was that fact that it's pacing was so screwy, the big climactic battle didn't feel like the big climatic battle. I was surprised when it ended, because it felt like we were barely into the second act of the movie.

THIS. Also Hector Hammond was introduced too late to be a really effective villain. And they just sort of mentioned Hal's relationships with Carol, his family, etc., without letting us get invested in them. We were supposed to care, but we never had time to do so.

For me, the difference was character. I did enjoy Green Lantern, but I felt like we didn't get much characterization. We sort of got some for Hal and Hector, but it wasn't much and was sort of surface characterization. With Thor, I understood the characters and felt for them.

WORD to this. All of it. In GL, they just gave us surface information and expected us to care, but Thor actually tried to make us care.
