Actually, I've started to notice male fans becoming more open to certain yaoi pairings. They will at least acknowledge any subtext now instead of deny it. Some may even be amused by it and like the basic idea. With the popularity of yaoi in fandoms, I think this may just be an effect of that. Like they are finally "getting used to it", in a way. But the difference is they don't get passionately invested in it. It tends to be a rather shallow interest. So they are far from shippers.

Others may secretly enjoy shota, or prefer one member of a yaoi couple to be a "trap." So in these cases it is very much accepted on their own terms (that don't threaten their own precious masculinity).
