Very true. I mean, clearly getting a review copy given to you vs pirating is different, but I agree that it's hypocritical to be so snobby about it. Manga in particular is fuckin' expensive at $10-$12 a volume! And a typical volume is what, five chapters? And most series are at least a dozen volumes, and many are as many as twenty...and that's not the long-runners like Naruto. A 12-volume series at $10 a piece is $120 for the whole series...and most likely, you could get pretty much the same story animated and dubbed for $50 or less, even though that cost way more to produce.
This is why I typically stick to anime instead of manga. There are some manga I like, but it's way more economical to be into anime. Even more so if you go to Netflix or Hulu.
