While that is a bit too flashy, ebooks have never fulfil me like books do. I just, IDK, prefer the old way of reading. But ebooks have been useful when I can't get the actual books, so.

I'm weird. I will often get ebooks when they are free, and if I find it awesome enough I will buy a print version to 'keep' if I have enough money. Outside of that, the ebooks I buy are usually very modern. Recent biographies, light-hearted fluff books, etc. It is incredibly handy to have a library in the palm of my hand (go-go ipod kindle app!) when waiting around places or on my break at work.

On the other hand, if I admire the author enough or know I will want to keep the book for a long time and re-read it, I will buy print. Isabel Allende is one such author for me, as is Junot Diaz. And any brilliant writer who wrote before the invention of the internet.

I get ebooks if I can't get the book, but I prefer the old kind. I like taking a book in my bag and I'm always more involved when reading books than when reading from a screen. YMMV, though.

I agree with that. It is so much easier to get sucked into a actual book than a e-book.

Of course, I have a slightly over-indulgent relationship with old books. Loved the smell of them as a kid, and now whenever a batch of books comes in at the library that they plan to sell or trash I dig through all the old ones to see if there are any to bring home. I have about twenty in my car right now. I think I may have a problem. (But seriously, leather-bound editions! How can I pass those up?)

I'm always saving books. It breaks my heart when people throw them away. And I love the smell of old books. Word to the leather-bound editions XD

I do love old books, the heft of them, the smell of the paper, the way the binding feels under the fingers, but alas, space and cash need to be taken into consideration. My shelves are stocked to bursting already. My ideal habitat would have whole rooms lined with shelving. Considering too that some of my textbooks are in the 20lb range in dead tree format, ebooks earn their keep by preventing scoliosis. ;p
