Pagan gods would have been brilliant, or even an original immortal being. Though I actually thought it wasn't a research fail, but a conscious defiance of most vampire traits. It might also have been both. I mean, I give the "sparkly vampire" thing points for going against the grain in terms of sunlight = death, but it was a really bad method for doing so. Which makes me sad, because while I agree with the constants you mentioned, the sunlight = death trait is very prevalent and I like turning things on their head. But not when said turning is badly done.

Agreed. And the only reason I call it a research fail is because in interviews she has said that she only googled vampires for research. (I was in a Vampires in Literature; From Dracula to Twilight course in college. For the Twilight portion I engaged in some epic hating which made me dig up all the interviews. I have since let a lot of it go, but the knowledge is still there.)

And yesssss. I really don't mind changing up the constraints, and I really dislike the sunlight = death trope (Except in works like Near Dark. Exploding vampire western? ...AWESOME), but the whole disco-ball thing... Especially since it only works in direct natural light? What?

My personal theory is that the twilight vamps have fae blood in them, and that's why they sparkle in natural light, but of course, that's just my theory, lol. |D

there are faeries that drain humans lifeforce, hell even drink blood. If you told me the vampires in twilight are actually fairies I would bat an eye.

[identity profile] loracarol.livejournal.com 2012-01-22 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, me theory is that they were once fae, but the "real" vampires started turning fae in a twisted joke, only for the faepires to slowly have none of the weaknesses that "real" vampires have, and thus the "real" vampires screwed themselves over.

So, I mean, Twipires aren't fae per se... But far that were turned and it's a long story, lol. |D

I like that idea XD A lot XD even if it's about twilight XD

Thank you! I was thinking far to much about it, lol. |D
